Digital Camera You need to create good pictures of the coins you have for sale. For coin collections you’ll need a good digital camera with at least a three megapixel
capacity. These can be purchased immediately from the
eBay Digital Cameras listings
for under $100, and the price is going down all the time. There’s no need to buy a brand new $300+ 16 megapixel camera, but if that’s what you have, that’s great too! Maybe by the time you read this the price will have dropped further. If you are likely to be taking multiple pictures at the same time, make sure your camera is equipped with a memory card, or chip, with at least a 1 megabyte memory. This is unlikely to come with your camera, but you can find these at Wal-Mart or good camera stores for around $12.00 or so. We use a Kodak ZD8612 IS Digital Camera with a 2 megabyte (MB) memory card, also known as an SD card. We love this camera - for around $140.00 it has so many of the features of professional SLR cameras, but in an easy to use form. Rechargeable batteries are highly recommended, of course you can buy the fully branded version for this camera, but we buy perfectly good unbranded substitute batteries from the many on offer on eBay, at a fraction of the cost. Your pictures and scans will need to be adjusted in size and quality before showing them on your eBay auctions, so the next item to find out about is a Picture Editor program.
